**Job Purpose**

To help protect MHR and its customers’ sensitive data through assisting to identify key security weaknesses across the business and provide advice on how to address these.

**Apprenticeship Overview**

**Expected duration**: 24 months
**Apprenticeship level: Higher (Level 4)**

**Programme: Cyber Security Technologist**

During this apprenticeship, you will follow a fully supported training programme with The Apprentice and Training Partnership, delivered through combined weekly remote classroom-based training, workplace assessment/training and online learning working towards completing the L4 Cyber Security Technologist standard.

The training covers the following core occupational duties:
**About the role**:
You will be assessing the security of people, processes and technology to identify vulnerabilities and provide advice and guidance on how to fix these. You will be undertaking penetration testing on web apps, on-prem infrastructure and cloud systems to identify gaps that could be exploited by malicious actors. You will gain experience using penetration testing tools, such as Burpsuite, nmap and Metasploit, and be involved in red team and purple team testing.

You will be an enthusiastic and talented individual with a passion for cyber-security and a strong desire to become a penetration tester. You may just be starting your career or have already worked in a different field and want to move into this area. No prior cyber-security experience is needed as you will be trained and supported throughout.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Undertake security assessments across the business (e.g. partners, suppliers, products, etc.) to understand key security risks, recommend improvements and track remedial actions.
- Undertaking technical security assessments on critical systems to ensure these are configured securely (e.g. IaaS, PaaS, Kubernetes, databases, OS, firewalls, etc.).
- Undertaking infrastructure, red team and purple team penetration testing.
- Defining Technical Security Baselines to guide areas across the business on how to securely configure key systems (e.g. databases, firewalls, switches, etc.).
- Assist in the planning and co-ordination of customer and third-party compliance penetration testing.

**Essential Skills and characteristics**
- Demonstrable interest in information security and cyber security
- Knowledge of IT systems (both hardware and software).
- Ability to follow processes
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team, as well as the ability to work independently
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure in prioritising competing workloads
- Verbal and written communication skills

**Desirable experience/prior knowledge will include a basic understanding of**:

- Information security threats and countermeasures
- Infrastructure penetration testing
- Red and Purple team penetration testing

**Requirements**:
**Eligibility**
- Have been a UK/EEA resident for the last 3 years
- Hold valid residency status
- Have the right to work in the UK

**Additional Information**

This role is office-based. A formal dress code is required to be adhered to.

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
