The Role
This part time (0.5 FTE) Teaching and Scholarship post is fixed term for one year.
Combined Honours
Combined Honours is part of School X, the University’s new school of interdisciplinary, based in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, with a focus on the challenges of climate change and social justice. Combined Honours is one of three founding units within School X, though the degree programme has been in existence for almost 50 years.
Key Accountabilities
Undertake teaching across the Combined Honours curriculum
Provide high quality supervision / support for final year students undertaking independent research projects
Lead on outgoing Study Abroad provision for the Centre (including promotion, module choice sign-off, welfare support, assessment and module leadership, etc.)
Undertake scholarship commensurate with level and in the field of supporting learning in HE
Carry out administrative duties as assigned by the Director (for example, planning and supporting events to develop students’ employability)
Act as a Personal Tutor and as Academic Advisor to Newcastle undergraduate students and incoming Study Abroad students
Work with Professional Services colleagues to maintain and develop our partnerships with other institutions for our optional Study Abroad offer
Provide support with admissions and open/offer holder days, and in promoting the Combined Honours programme to the UK and international market
The Person
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Experience of undergraduate teaching and assessing student work
Experience of working in partnership with other institutions to contribute to a meaningful optional Study Abroad module
Ability to teach and support learning effectively and in an evidence based manner
Experience of developing and/or supervising COIL (or similar) projects
Experience of supporting and advising students with academic and/or personal matters
Excellent communicator and presentation skills
Ability to work as part of a team

**Qualifications**:
Fellowship (D2 minimum) of the HEA or equivalent
Postgraduate Degree (preferably in Education)
