Phlebotomist

We are looking for a trained and experienced phlebotomist to join our friendly team.

Working with our Nurses and Health Care Assistants you will be required to verify and interpret test requests from our GPs and obtain blood specimens from patients, ensuring appropriate hygiene and infection control techniques. You will be responsible for ensuring all samples are labelled accurately, handled safely and transported securely.

You will hold an appropriate certificate of competence in venepuncture or be able to evidence equivalent experience in a clinical setting.

Familiarity with our Clinical Computer System, EMIS Web, and Cambridge University Hospitals’ T-Quest system would be an advantage, but is not essential as training for this will be given.

The surgery is located in central Saffron Walden (branch surgery in Great Chesterford) and offers an NHS pension together with a competitive salary. Hours are flexible, but must fit in with our sample collection timetable (last collection currently c.3:00pm). An Enhanced DBS check will be required.
