Guala Closures UCP Ltd is a fast-paced, high-volume, manufacturing and design Company who are a key supplier to the drinks industry. We recently announced a significant investment which will see existing sites in Bridge of Allan and Kirkintilloch transition to one, purpose-built flagship facility based at the Gartcosh Business Interchange, Lanarkshire.

The vision of the new site is one of high-performance manufacture, innovation, excellence, and sustainability. The new site will bring additional investment in state-of-the-art equipment and novel technology. Our existing sites have served the company well over many years, but none allow us to operate at an optimum level for several reasons including space restrictions and layout.

Guala Closures is fortunate to serve world-class customers based in Scotland. This move strengthens the local supply chain to these customers and enables advances in sustainability.

With all this change on the horizon, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Production Planner. The key aim of the role is to ensure operational and production continuity; support lean manufacturing principles through effective planning of lines, stock reduction, labour utilisation and OTIF. This role is part of a team that are central to the business.

Key responsibilities include:

- Plan and manage work orders in line with Production Plan and schedule both finished and work in progress. (Plan to be at least 6 weeks ahead of delivery commitments on all key lines)
- Ensure appropriate planning tools are available, updated and communicated to stakeholders in a timely manner
- Plan new products and samples as required
- Liaise closely with the customer service officers, sales team, wider planning team and any other relevant stakeholder, to assure customer orders are linked to supply date
- Ensure that capacity planning of machines is managed in order to meet customer delivery times
- Supervise stock levels in line with customer agreements and business goals
- Work with Finance team to ensure system information is correct; item numbers, routings, bills of materials, work centres
- Actively participate and where required lead all scheduled meetings to include daily/weekly planning meetings, production meetings
- Contribute to any operational business improvement projects

Required experience:

- Excellent knowledge of Production Planning
- Strong MRP (Material Requirements Planning) experience (some SAP experience preferable but no essential)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; both externally and internally
- Attends to detail; accomplishing tasks accurately and thoroughly
- Demonstrates flexibility; using initiative, working independently and collaboratively to achieve common objectives
- Emotionally controlled and copes well under pressure
- Conscientious - sees work through to a successful conclusion; delivers on commitments both internally and externally
- Strong analytical, planning, prioritising, project management capabilities and keeps sight of the overall objective
- Has the capacity for logical thinking and can challenge the status quo where necessary
- Positive and enthusiastic
- Exceptional personal drive and enjoys meeting stretching goals & overcoming challenge
