**The Opportunity**
The role will also involve, but will not be limited to:
- Leadership of, and responsibility for, our Data Platform and Data-as-a-Service propositions. Responsible for setting the strategic direction and executing the development of our offering and will work closely with the Data Engineering and Insight to take our data to market, whether for internal or external consumption. This will also include the ongoing financial monitoring of platform costs and regular reviews of options for cloud optimization.
- Acting autonomously and independently as the Lead for Data platform, keeping abreast of industry trends, standard and emerging technologies ensuring our delivery team are appropriately skilled and qualified to compete in the market and deliver effectively.
- Providing expert advice to our clients and internal practices (beyond Data and Insight) regarding the effective management of the data lifecycle and the role of technology in supporting this.
- Providing expert input to and quality assurance of the data elements of our products and services including overseeing the further development of our data catalogues.
- Providing operational oversight and data quality monitoring of our data repositories including our internal data warehouses and maintained through Machine Learning models and workflow.
- Acting as the senior responsible owner for our data platform and data as a service artefact library, working closely with our dedicated Data Engineering Team, to ensure consistent architectural and operational excellence in our platforms and documentation.
- Taking a leading role in the Data Management & Operations department’s relationship with our core data platform and data as a service partner.
**About You**
You will have proven experience of effectively leading and managing data management and operations programmes with significant experience and expertise of data modelling approaches. You will have experience of working with structured, semi-structured and unstructured data and experience of architecting and deploying complex data pipelines, connecting diverse data sources to consolidated repositories.
You will also have/be:
- Demonstrable deep knowledge of the Microsoft Azure technology stack as it relates to Data and Insight (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL VMs, SQL Managed Instances, Azure SQL DB, Data Lakes, Azure Synapse, PostgreSQL including the PostGIS extender and Power BI).
- The ability to lead on the appraisal of solution architectures as they relate to our requirements for Data and Insight solutions, including Cloud, Hybrid-Cloud and On-Premise based solutions and specific components and services within them.
- Experience of designing and overseeing service management models as they relate to managed instances of our data platform and data-as-a-service solutions.
- Proven experience of the architecture and deployment of complex data pipelines, connecting diverse data sources to consolidated repositories.
- Experience of architecting pipelines to support Machine Learning workloads.
- Be able to maintain high levels of operational delivery. Being accountable and responsible to support the operational delivery of data for a wide range of use cases. Adhering to SLA’s and Operational Level Agreements. Inspiring the teams to provide the highest level of quality to our customers.
- A qualification in a Computer Science, GIS or Data related discipline or significant equivalent professional experience**.**
