**LocationBackground**: YMCA BlackCountry Group has six nursery sites across West Bromwich, Walsall, Dudley andWolverhampton. Each facility is registered by OFSTED to provide childcare for childrenfrom 6 weeks to school age. Due to an increased volume of SEND support, werequire one to one SEND support workers to move across our Nursery settingsproviding targeted support for a key children where needed.

**JobRole**:
1. Motivated by the desire to help childrendevelop, you will be part of a team providing high qualitycare for a child from birth to 5 years with additional SEND needs.

2. The post holder will provide a warm andwelcoming environment within the Nursery where young children and theirfamilies can feel valued and obtain positive help and support.

**Dutiesand Responsibilities**:
1. Tooffer support and guidance to parents/carers enabling them to extend their ownskills, and by boosting their confidence and self-esteem, ensure the emotional wellbeingof their child.

2. Toshare responsibility for the display and maintenance of a safe, stimulating,interactive, learning environment in the Nursery.

3. Towork within the guidelines of the EYFS and assist in the planning, preparationand delivery of an effective programme of activities to help babies and youngchildren to develop.

4. Toprovide stimulating learning experiences enabling young children to grow inconfidence and independence.

5. Toshare responsibility for the observation, assessment, monitoring and recordkeeping of childrens learning and development using a variety of methods.

6. Torecord these observations and produce individual profiles for each child inyour care.

7. Tocomplete, review and share detailed action plans/targets for the key childwhich enables them to develop and thrive.

8. Toshare responsibility for providing full access to an effective programme ofactivities for children identified as requiring additional support.

9. Toparticipate in staff meetings.

10. To work in partnership with other professionals involved withthe children and their families, i.e. health visitors, Childrens centres,speech therapists.

11. To attend additional training that meets the needs of the childrequiring one to one support.

12. To care for your key child if unwell or is suffering minorinjury.

13. To be familiar with the fire drill and procedures for the safetyof the children.

14. To assist with checking equipment for safety and suitability touse and preparing resources as appropriate.

15. Responsible for ensuring daily feedback is given to the familyabout the key childs daily routine.

16. To assist in the identification of child protection issues.

17. To access personal and curriculum development opportunities.

18. To undertake duties in such a way that ensures a positivemulti-cultural approval and with full regard for the principles and policies inplace at the YMCA and comply with the Equal Opportunities & Diversity Policyand Child Protection Procedures within the organisation.

19. Operate within YMCA policies and procedures, strictly observingHealth & Safety regulations of colleagues, parents/carers and yourself andthe Safeguarding Children & Young People Policy.

Childcare qualification NVQ Level 3, equivalent, or higher

**Experience**

Experience of delivering one to one support for a SEND child

Experience of delivering targets from external agencies to support a SEND child

**Skills**

Knowledge of Ofsted Standards.
