**Job description - Accounts Assistant**

Petersen Stainless Rigging is a small manufacturing company with big ambitions. We are looking for talented individuals who can be an integral part of our dynamic team, helping to develop the business to deliver the next phase of growth: new products, new customers, new markets and new territories.

You will control all day-to-day financial aspects of the business, including accounts and contracts. This will have a direct and measurable impact on the smooth running of the business and its ability to scale up to meet increasing customer demand. You will work closely with the company accountant to support them to complete month, quarter and year end reporting. You will also work with the wider management team and be expected to contribute to and, in some cases, take on projects and areas of responsibility not typically considered to be part of your role.

You will be supported to develop your accounting, contract management and general management skills with in-house and, where appropriate, external training and accreditation.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Financial Management**
- Managing all aspects of incoming and outgoing financial transactions (sales and purchase ledgers)
- Managing all external communications relating to accounts, for example, preparing, checking and distributing sales invoices to customers
- Proactively monitoring and managing debtors, for example, speaking to customers to collect outstanding debts
- Managing payments to suppliers and other creditors
- Maintaining financial records in line with company and Government requirements

**Contract management**
- Managing contracts and other service agreements, including supporting with the negotiation of new contracts
- Regularly gathering information and reporting on supplier performance

**Business support**
- Regularly collating, analysing and reporting on financial and other data
- Helping the leadership team to shape key financial/business metrics

**Additional responsibilities**
- Handling general enquiries from incoming calls
- Providing support as required to the wider sales and back office teams
- Adhering to the company's policies and procedures at all times

**CANDIDATE PROFILE**
- Drive and enthusiasm and a real desire to develop

- Excellent numerical skills and confidence gathering, working with and reporting on data
- Strong written and spoken communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and polite and professional behaviour

- Good planning, organizing and problem-solving skills
- An ability to work under pressure and to prioritise work with an appropriate sense of urgency
- Capable of using their own initiative, and working on projects alone when the situation requires it
- Prepared to suggest better working practices, where appropriate
- Computer literacy, including proficiency with reporting tools such as Excel, and confidence in adapting to new systems. Prior experience of a manufacturing accounting package would be useful, but training and support will be provided.

**PLEASE NOTE**:Our working hours are Monday to Thursday, 7:00am to 4:30pm, resulting in a 36 hour week.

**Job Types**: Permanent, Full-time

Pay: From £26,000.00 to £30,000 per year, depending upon experience and qualifications
