We are currently recruiting for an exciting new role as a Transport Planner to join our thriving team based at Ilkeston.

The role of the Transport Planner is to work directly with the senior planning teams to execute the daily plan effectively. Within this role, you will work independently to achieve your goals with specific attention to customer service, driver liaison and ensuring all deliveries and collections are on time, each & every time. You will be required to use your problem solving skills at times whilst using your experience and foresight to pre-empt potential issues before they arise, taking remedial action where required.

**Main responsibilities**
- Support senior planning team with requested activity, to include contacting drivers or subcontractors, communicating plan to drivers / subcontractors (list not exhaustive).
- Plan execution and communicating issues to relevant senior planning team and customer services.
- Debrief drivers to ensure actual times, trailer numbers and demurrage are recorded in line with company processes.
- Daily planning/scheduling of resource (vehicles and drivers) to match demand on a daily basis.

**Qualifications**

Required
- Equivalent of 5 GCSE grade ‘C’ or above.

Preferred
- National CPC.
- Class 1 Licence.
- Customer Service Level 2 or 3.

**Experience**
- Must have knowledge of Transport Management Systems (TMS) or demonstrate experience and systems knowledge.
- Have worked in a planning function previously undertaking similar duties.
- Ability to interpret and translate facts and information in order to explain situations and issues to people.
- Ability to follow pre-defined steps, methods or approaches but with the ability to modify and adapt when required.

**Skills/Knowledge**

Excellent communication skills are essential, understanding of the transport industry is essential with knowledge of construction-based customers and the requirements for project sites would be a significant advantage. The ability to think quickly and manage multiple activities into an overall plan, while coordinating with other stakeholders
