To sustain and support our current Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) requirements we are pleased to offer a vacancy opportunity to join our existing dedicated AVP Operative based in Rotherham.
Our training package includes Level 2 Apprenticeship and access to Level 2 NCFE.
**Duties to include**:
Ambulance Vehicle Preparation Operatives process ambulance service vehicles in a prescribed and controlled way that ensures each ambulance is fully equipped and prepared to attend and treat a patient. The role is a key operational support function, which ensures patient safety whilst supporting Operations in meeting its targets. Main duties include detailed cleaning and Infection Prevention and Control activities, checking and inspecting medical and lifting & handling equipment, restocking all consumables, and completing vehicle checks. Other duties include the preparation of consumables, stock control, re-fuelling and moving vehicles across various locations, recording all daily activities and the repatriation of equipment from Hospital Trusts.
No experience is required as full training will be given. An initial 4-week Training package forms part of your Learning and Development.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) NHS Trust geographically covers nearly 6,000 square miles of varied terrain, from isolated moors and dales to urban areas, coastline and inner cities.
We serve a population of over five million people across Yorkshire and the Humber and strive to ensure that patients receive the right response to their care needs as quickly as possible, wherever they live.
We employ more than 7,100 staff, who together with over 1,300 volunteers, enable us to provide a vital 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, emergency and healthcare service.
Our ambition is to be an employer of choice, and we are continuously working across our partnership to improve our collective offer to staff in areas like health and wellbeing, benefits and flexible working incl. hybrid working.
**Benefits**:
- Flexible working including part-time hours, job shares and flexible hours, agile working (role dependant)
- 27 days annual leave, increasing to 33 with service.
- Contributory Pension.
- NHS Discounts including shops, restaurants, gyms etc.
- Car lease and other salary sacrifice schemes.
- Dedicated employee assistance and counselling service.
- Opportunities for research participation, career progression and ongoing development.
- Well respected, committed and supported staff networks for our workforce.
The working days and times are dependent upon current provision required to meet operational/patient demand and this can include Bank Holidays, weekends and nights, preparing our frontline operational vehicles and maintaining our provision on a 24-hour basis. A significant percentage of our Ambulance Vehicle Preparation is completed overnight. However, night and weekend working does attract unsocial payments which could mean pay increasing to approximately £28K per annum depending on shift patterns.
Holiday entitlement is between 27 days and 33 days (pro-rata) depending on length of NHS service plus bank holidays on a pro-rata basis.
You must be reliable and conscientious with a good eye for detail and be able to work individually and as part of a small team.
For full details of the detailed job description and main responsibilities, please refer to the job description under supporting documents.
