Children and Young Person's Substance Use Worker

Adferiad Recovery delivers a new, flexible, and co-ordinated response to the exceptional circumstances faced by people with co-occurring mental health and substance misuse conditions and related issues. We harness the talents and experience of our founding and long-established leading Welsh Charities CAIS, Hafal, and WCADA in their fields, enabling our projects to meet the needs of our most vulnerable with a single, unified, and comprehensive approach.
**Hours**:15 hours per week
**Salary**:£22,387.61 per annum (pro rata)
**Holidays**: 25 days per year plus 8 public holidays (pro rata)
**Based at**: Neath Port Talbot
**Role Purpose**:
The post holder will carry out comprehensive substance use assessments, risk assessments, develop and review care plans and contribute to a holistic package of care for each individual, managing a caseload of young people aged 11-17. They will provide advice and information on substance use, one-to-one support, alcohol and drug awareness group sessions, and transitional support to adult services where appropriate.
The post holder will be competent to facilitate Brief Interventions, use Motivational Interviewing skills and deliver Relapse Prevention sessions. The aim of the work carried out is to address substance use and associated behaviours, to improve relationships and enable young people to reach their full potential within a supportive environment. The post holder will be required to provide hidden harm support to those who are affected by another person’s substance use e.g., family member.
**Essential Qualifications**:
- NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care and/or relevant professional qualification. Considerable relevant experience would be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
**Essential Experience**:
- Experience of working with individuals affected by substance use.
- Experience of working with young people.
- Experience of group facilitation.
**Other Relevant Requirements**:
- Full driving licence with access to own transport to be used for work purposes with appropriate insurance.
