The Valleys Regional Park (VRP) is here to connect people and place, bringing together the health of the land, the people and the economy in everything that we do.
Based on previous experience, best practice research, and extensive engagement through the Valleys Taskforce, the Valleys Regional Park has three interlinked delivery themes:
- Landscape, Culture and Identity
- Recreation and Wellbeing
- Communities and Enterprise
Bridgend County Borough Council will host the development phase working in partnership with 12 other local authorities across the south Wales region. The work is funded through the European Social Fund and Welsh Government and will deliver;
- The long governance, funding and operating model for the regional management of the Valleys landscape including consideration of a land designation for the Valleys
- A regional approach to the use of social prescribing and the delivery of wellbeing activities
- Regional peer-to-peer networking to support community led development of landscape and heritage assets
- Pilot projects relating to green spaces that can be replicated on a regional basis
- The sharing of best practice in relation to landscape based activity
- An agreed funding model for continuation of VRP through the Corporate Joint Committee (CJC) structures
- The transition from a Bridgend CBC hosted service to the long term structures under the CJC structures.
To do this BCBC is recruiting a Business and Partnership co-ordinator. This role will support the Strategic and Operational lead and work with the theme Convenors and Communications and Marketing Officer.
The delivery of the VRP will be based on a partnership approach. It will be overseen by a Board made up of the leaders of the partner authorities based on the approach to regional working developed through the Cardiff Capital Region. An Executive Group operates below the Board level involving representatives from the key public sector partners in order to provide strategic and operational direction to the VRP.
This post is offered on a secondment or fixed term basis to the end of the funding period of March 2024. If the post is filled on secondment the post-holder will return to their organisation at the end of the funded period. Whilst Bridgend County Borough Council will host the team, opportunities will be available to hot desk across the VRP area and to work from home.
