**Purpose of the position**

The Master Data SME assists with the management of the company's data assets in order to improve and maintain timeliness and quality of the data. They monitor the quality of the data their business area is responsible for. They ensure that the Data Administrators in their business area accurately maintain their data in accordance with business rules. Master Data SMEs speak for their business area on the company wide teams responsible for defining data processes and standards. Master Data SMEs assist the Data Governance Coordinator and Data Owners in ensuring data quality.

**Responsibilities**
- Assists with the resolution of Data integration issues as requested by the Data Governance Coordinator
- Represents their business area on company wide Data Standards and Data Process teams.
- Participates in the definition of Business requirements and Data Business rules.
- Supports projects and initiatives in development and refinement of data processes in accordance with defined standards
- Recommends adjustments to data policies and procedures as necessary to improve key performance indicators
- Monitors compliance with data quality requirements by the Data Administrators
- Fields calls from Data Administrators and users within their business area. Resolves routine data problems.
- Investigates and initiates appropriate corrective action when data quality in their span of responsibility deteriorates.
- Monitors the quality of data maintained by the Data Administrators in their business area
- Monitors performance indicators/metrics for data within their span of responsibility and regularly briefs their business management on the quality of data for which their business area is responsible (Ops Review)
- Identifies root causes of data quality problems within their business area and identifies sustainable solutions
- Develops and performs independent data quality analyses relevant to their business area and data domain(s)
- Personally participates in execution of testing and validation of data quality metrics
- Coordinates review and approval of data deletion and archiving requests for data in their span of responsibility
- Enters problems originating in their business area in problem resolution database and monitors problem resolution process until resolution is complete
- Follows policies and procedures for handling calls and responding to problem tickets assigned to them
- Educates and trains Requestors within their Business Unit
- Assists Data Governance Coordinator with training of new Master Data SMEs
- Develops basic data value propositions for their business area based on defined methodology.

**Education and experience**
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in master data management, data governance, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of master data concepts, processes, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy, integrity, and consistency.
- Relevant certifications in master data management or data governance (e.g., Certified Information Management Professional, SAP Certified Application Associate) a plus.
