Salisbury, United Kingdom Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We are looking to appoint one substantive full (10PA) or part-time Consultant to a new post, adding to our existing team of 5 WTE substantive consultants. The hospital is situated in a rural area on the edge of the cathedral city of Salisbury, recently nominated by Lonely Planet as one of the top 10 cities in the world to visit. It has excellent transport links to the South West, South coast and London.

The department processes 16,500 histology and 1100 non-gynae specimens, and performs 280 PMs per year.

The department operates specialist reporting for cancer resections and for the more specialist/complex non-cancer cases. A pool of non-specialist work is shared. Work is allocated using the Royal College workload scoring system, ensuring a safe workload. The consultant staff place particular importance on supportive team working and we have a daily meeting to discuss any challenging cases.

Generally we have one Specialty Trainee.

Autopsies are carried out for HM Coroner and as consent procedures. Applications are also invited from those who do not wish to carry out post mortems.

Applicants for the post must have their name included on the Specialist Register or be within six months of their CCT date at the time of interview.
