The role will be based at SIAS in Marston Green, Solihull, but require outreach work at other locations around Solihull Borough. The hours will be split into shifts and typically include one weekday, one evening and one weekend shift a week. Public holidays are included. **There is a need to work flexibly in this roles to meet the needs of the service users. A clean driving licence and willingness to drive a minibus is essential.**

**Job Purpose**

As a Recovery Coach, your primary responsibility will be to assist individuals in their journey into recovery from addiction and substance use. You will be responsible for offering support, guidance, and encouragement to help service users maintain abstinence and make positive lifestyle changes. Your role involves building a trusting relationship with service users, identifying, and working on their ‘recovery capital’, providing resources, and helping them to develop effective coping mechanisms, all through personalised Recovery Plans and the Service Use Recovery Evaluator (SURE).

**Key Activities**
- To oversee support for service users through a ‘lived experience’ approach.
- To provide recovery check-ups to service users and early re-intervention work to ensure recovery is sustained, or the harmful consequences of relapse are minimized.
- To facilitate groups and one to ones with service users to discuss relevant issues regarding their recovery.
- To signpost service users to relevant agencies to ensure a comprehensive, individual support package is being provided.
- To help service users with skill development
- To listen to service users, including their feelings about any difficulties they may be having.
- To help service users to make informed choices.
- To communicate with other staff/volunteers about service users’ needs/activities.
- To develop and maintain excellent working links/partnerships with partner agencies.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- To be confident and competent working with service users using the ‘Recovery Planner’ as a tool to assess and build on recovery capital for each individual client.
- Use the SURE (Substance Use Recovery Evaluator) to measure each service user’s journey and report on facts.
- Deliver educational and activity-based interventions.
- Confidently identify changes in risk and record on appropriate systems as well as sharing any relevant information to other supporting agencies.
- Ensure that all safeguarding issues, including child protection and protection of vulnerable adults, are dealt with in accordance with organizational policies and procedures, and local and national statutory requirements.
- Be involved in review meetings concerning service users.
- Being responsible for identifying service users’ needs and communicating these needs to the wider SIAS team.
- Participate in recovery services promotion and information events.
- Actively promote SIAS Partnership through statutory and voluntary organizations and establish and maintain effective operational working relationships.
- Collaborate with partners and stakeholders in reducing stigma around addiction.
- Be willing to travel to and work from different locations as required.
- Record and input client data and information in order that the service operates within contractual, administrative, and financial requirements.
- Work within CLERO (College of Lived Experience Recovery Organisations) framework to ensure a lived experience approach is at the forefront of the recovery services delivery.
- Attend CLERO meetings as a representative of the SIAS recovery services LERO.

**The focus of all interventions for service users will be to**:

- Support service users through the recovery process with a view to them maintaining long-term recovery.
- Identify and build up service users’ recovery capital.
- To support desistance from crime, freedom from dependence and inspire active citizenship.
- Assess progress through the Substance Use Recovery Evaluator (SURE).
- Inspire healthier lives and wellbeing.
- Provide effective coaching - identifying and encouraging areas of strength, skill and opportunity for each service user.
- Use evidenced-based interventions based on best practice guidelines.
- Contribute to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved.
- Work with service users to identify barriers to healthier lifestyles and identify solutions to overcome these.
- Agree action plans with service users, including specific steps needed to overcome barriers and reach goals for recovery readiness.
- Support service users to identify problematic areas in their lives.
- Provide support in achieving key milestones such employment, volunteering, abstinence, repaired relationships, etc.
