Location: Euxton Hall Hospital, Chorley (covering Buckshaw, Euxton, Fulwood, Oaklands & Renacres Hospitals)/ Home based

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Full-time

Summary:
Euxton Hall Private Hospital is one of Lancashire's leading private hospitals situated on the outskirts of Chorley but close to Preston and Wigan with easy access to the M65, M6 and M61 motorways.

The facility offers 32 beds all with en suite facilities to ensure complete privacy and by investing in advanced medical technology offers a wide range of treatments and services. On site there are two fully equipped ultra clean air theatres, an endoscopy and small treatment room. The hospital specialises in orthopaedic procedures offered such as arthroscopy, hip, knee replacement and upper limb surgery and offers rapid access to Breast Care services.

The role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Coder to work with the clinical coding team across the 5 sites (Buckshaw, Euxton, Fulwood, Oaklands and Renacres Hospitals) but this position will be primarily based at Euxton Hall Hospital (Home working is available)

This role is ‘hands on’ and will report to the Business Administration Manager. This position requires an individual who consistently exhibits a positive attitude and is willing to work as a proactive team member within the clinical coding function.

The role involves:

- To be a Clinical Coder for the 5 units within the North West, and to attend each unit where required in order to provide support to the existing clinical coders.
- Assist the existing clinical coders to code all primary and secondary diagnoses, procedures and all operations for NHS & private episodes of care to the units and input these codes using the systems available whilst ensuring that the clinical coding workload is kept to a maintainable level.
- Play an active part within the hospital teams influencing and persuading operational practices to achieve the overall aim of improving quality of clinical information.
- Work within and maintain up to date knowledge of all coding standards published by NHS Digital TCDS. (Classifications Service)
- To keep up to date with the latest developments in coding by attending regular specialist workshops and refresher courses, and through training and experience, have an extensive working knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
- Take responsibility for completing own workload within the agreed Ramsay site coding targets in order to achieve the required monthly coding deadlines.
- To provide specialist coding advice to clinicians and information staff on request.
- To manage and maintain the effectiveness of, and to identify possible improvements in, the Clinical Coding procedures and protocols within Ramsay Healthcare.
- Cover for fellow colleagues as and when required.
- Undertake other duties as required commensurate with the post.
- Successfully completed NHS Digital CCS E-Learning modules as pre-requisite to the Clinical Coding Standards course (CCSC)
- ACC qualification or equivalent clinical coding experience
- Undertaken clinical coding Refresher training (CCSRC) every 3 years to maintain and refresh coding knowledge and skills in line with NHS Digital continued learning/training requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology
- Sound written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Commercial and financial awareness
- Appropriate computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Flexibility and adaptability
