Banbury, United Kingdom Connection Support Full time

**Are you passionate about supporting families who have had to flee their country of origin? Do you believe in empowering families to build confidence and become self-sufficient?**

At Connection Support, our team of over 200 staff members and 150 volunteers work alongside people to overcome life’s challenges, with the goals of solving homelessness and achieving independence.

We are currently a Support Worker to join our Refugee Resettlement team in Oxfordshire.

**About the service**

The Refugee resettlement Service provides support to families who are seeking to resettle in Oxfordshire under national government schemes. We empower families to build confidence and abilities to navigate life in the UK and to access services they need so they can live fulfilling lives.

**About the role**

Encouraging and empowering families to become self-sufficient, you will provide information and guidance on housing options, tenancy rights, welfare rights, health services, building relationships with schools, liaising with landlords and other services applicable to their needs. You will also support to improve practical life skills, which could include, but not limited to, paying bills, understanding benefits, and housing systems, accessing, and preparing for work, and developing English language skills.

Overall, your role is to support the families, to feel safe, feel included, have a voice, and contribute positively to the local community.

This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract. We can offer full and part-time work, so speak to us if you are looking for flexibility.

You will be supporting people in the Cherwell region of Oxfordshire, but most of the families will live in Ambrosden, Bicester and Banbury. Due to the location, a driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

The closing date for this post is the Wednesday 5th June. Interviews will take place on Wednesday 12th June.

It would be amazing if you could speak Arabic, Pashto, and Dari (Farsi), however as long as you are happy to access an interpreter and you have an understanding and empathetic nature, then this is not essential.

Our team are genuinely passionate about providing support that’s empowering and individualised. We take great pride in our no-judgement, person-centred approach and we would like you to share the same values.
