We are recruiting for an Oncology Matron who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

Working alongside the senior nursing team you will provide visible leadership and you will maintain local and national standards, adhering to the clinical governance framework and audit/evaluation of the service and patient experience. Also, you will foster a culture of compassionate leadership that embeds the principles of psychological safety for all staff and establish an effective workplace culture that sustains person-centered, safe and effective care through self-awareness, leadership, active learning, development, improvement and innovation.

You will be the transfusion nursing lead and the champion for driving the infection prevention and control agenda for MVCC. You will be responsible for safeguarding and health and safety compliance and addressing any concerns within the inpatient/ambulatory service.

The matron will act as a resource, providing advice, information and support for patients, relatives, carers, health professionals and all multidisciplinary team members in relation to all aspects of cancer and its treatment.

Ensure the provision of evidence based practice, high quality standards of care that reflect best clinical practice through, evaluation, audit and by active participation in local and national review processes.

To represent MVCC as the infection control nurse lead

To represent MVCC as the transfusion nurse lead

Embed a workforce culture that is built on p sychological safet y, ensuring staff are heard and included in the developments of their service. Prioritise their wellbeing and support staff retention.

Support the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) by develop ing and maintai ning effective systems in respon se to patient safety incidents. Utilise the learning response tools to ensure a focus on learning and promotion of a just culture.

Lead on driving clinical governance in the inpatient/ambulatory service with a focus on accountability, responsibility, q uality improvement and risk management.
