**Lead Exam Invigilator**

**About the role**

**Main purpose of the role**:
Working closely with the Exam Officer to oversee and invigilate exams in accordance with Exam Board standards.

b. ensure the security of the examination before, during and after the examination;
d. prevent possible administrative failures.

Demonstrate leadership through the supervision of and fair delegation of tasks amongst invigilators. Be responsible for professional development of self and others with regards to knowledge and compliance of appropriate exam board rules and regulations.

**Key accountabilities**:

- In the event of any absence of the Exams Officer, liaise with the Facilities team to ensure the room is set out appropriately
- there are enough invigilators present
- heating, lighting, ventilation and levels of extraneous noise are acceptable
- Ensure that a signed record is kept of the seating and invigilation arrangements for any Examination session that you participate in
- To take all reasonable steps to ensure that:

- Complete the Attendance Register during the examination, in accordance with the instructions of the Awarding Body.
- Know the actions to be taken in the event of an emergency such as fire alarm or bomb alert.
- The Senior Invigilator responsible for papers/registers must ensure that all papers are returned from the different exam locations.
- After collation, to ensure the scripts are never left unattended and are handed to the person responsible for despatching the scripts to Examiners in order to help prevent possible administration failures.
- Collect all unused stationery in the examination room and return it to the stationery cabinets in the examination rooms.
- Ensure that the room is left in a tidy condition.
- To understand and comply with the School’s Equality Policy.
- Report directly back to the Exams Officer at the start and finish of each exam communicating any problems or incidents in a timely manner.
- Understand and comply with the Academy’s policies and procedures.
- Any other duties as may reasonably be expected within the grade of the post.

**Invigilators must not**:

- Read books, magazines, newspapers during the examination
- Make/receive calls
- Use mobile electronic devices
- Talk to other invigilators if more are present during the exam
- Smoke/eat in the examination room or outside during the test
- Leave the examination room during the exam without permission from the Lead Invigilator, if one is present, or the Exams Officer.

Essential
- Attainment of GCSE qualifications or equivalent (level 2 standard of education)

Desirable
- Higher Education

- Able to follow the academy’s safeguarding procedures and recognise when to report any concerns
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and alone as necessary

- Experience of working with young people
