We currently have a permanent position for Counter Sales at our Abergavenny branch.

**Who are Robert Price?**

Robert Price Builders’ Merchants Ltd is a family run independent business, with head office in Abergavenny. Founded in 1847, we are a substantial local employer, with the developments and progressions of a modern SME, and the grounding and values of a traditional family run business. We are the largest independent builders’ merchant in South East Wales.

**What is a builders’ merchant?**

A builders’ merchant is a company which supplies materials to the construction sector.

Up to 85% of the built environment you see around you is supplied by Britain’s builders’ merchants. Merchants and the supply chain are crucial to the construction industry which contributes over £40 billion to the UK economy each year. A career in this essential commercial sector can be challenging, varied and rewarding.

**Hours**:
40 hours per week to be worked 8:00am - 4:30pm from Monday to Friday and to work one in three Saturday mornings.

**Pay**:
Negotiable according to experience.

**Benefits**:

**Duties**:

- Counter sales and related administration
- Booking goods in and out, using point-of-sale terminal
- Customer service, dealing with customers in person and on the phone
- Merchandising and price labelling
- Stock management
- The role requires excellent selling skills, customer service and team-work skills with an understanding of building materials, stock control, orders, deliveries and pricing. Computerised point-of-sale training will be given.

**Essential Skills**:

- Building Material Knowledge
- GCSE Maths (minimum grade C) and English Language with good numeracy and keyboard skills
- Confident communicator with proven team work skills
- Naturally tidy and organised
- Willingness to engage with customers and provide good customer service
- Ability to follow instructions and work unsupervised
- Reliable, industrious, adaptable and quick to grasp new concepts
- Manual handling up to 25kg
- Good knowledge of building materials and their usage

**Desirable**:
An interest in sales and in the construction industry

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
