**Job description**

Absolute Care Services are recruiting for a Senior Care Worker to join our team. The role of the individual is to be a mentor to junior colleagues and support with their training and development.

**About the company**

**What would you be doing?**
You will be visiting vulnerable adults in their own homes. Helping them with everyday tasks, so they can continue to live in the environment which they love most because it holds their treasured memories.

To be a senior key worker to your agreed clients and ensure you support the care team whilst at work, ensuring that a safe, effective and efficient care service is maintained which meets the needs of clients. To train and mentor junior colleagues new to the business to develop their skills and understanding of their role. To provide care to clients in accordance with their assessed needs to an industry leading standard.

**Overall responsibilities**:

- Provide leadership and support for care staff
- To be a role model for all colleagues including those who are new to the business
- To provide training and shadowing support to junior colleagues as necessary
- To maintain skills and knowledge and ensure that care is delivered according to latest guidelines and best practice evidence
- Ensure the ongoing safety of clients, staff and visitors through systematic assessment, monitoring and reviewing
- Ensure that clear and accurate records and communication systems relating to care delivery are maintained and effectively

**Specific responsibilities and duties**:

- Provide leadership and support for care staff and act as a champion for client’s safety and dignity.
- Provide effective leadership and support for the care
- Liaise with GPs and other health professionals to ensure that clients receive the medical and clinical support they require.
- Demand high quality care delivery focused on clients' individually assessed needs and choices.
- Promote the professional image of the services through excellent communication, appropriate behaviour and professional
- Support new care staff in the completion of induction programs, training and competency assessment.
- To undertake training appropriate to the role, as agreed with the Manager, and ensure learning is shared and transferred into
- Review the daily delivery of care, including pressure area prevention, nutrition and infection prevention and control Ensure high standards of care delivery are maintained.
- To be responsible for the safe and appropriate, administration and recording of medication, in accordance with Absolute Care Services Policies and Procedures.
- Develop support plans related to the assessed needs and choices of individual
- Ensure that areas of identified risk are appropriately monitored and outcomes recorded and acted upon e.g. fluid and nutrition charts.
- Report all accidents and incidents promptly in accordance with Absolute Care Services policy. Ensure accident/incident reports are written clearly and concisely and that any remedial action or learning is incorporated into care
- Ensure that clients are encouraged and supported to remain as independent and active as Promote the philosophy of strength based care outcomes.
