**Job Purpose**:

- The post holder will work as an integral part of the Facilities team ensuring a high quality service to patients, visitors and staff.
- To act as part of a team in the delivery of a customer orientated and high quality security service.
- To receive work requests via telephone, take prompt and appropriate action in a courteous and helpful manner in order to ensure that an effective and timely service is offered to all services users.
- Prioritise work and direct staff accordingly to ensure that all resources are used effectively, reacting promptly to work requests from departments/wards.

**PRIMARY DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**

Work in partnership with the Security Supervisor, and Departmental supervision and management to contribute to the maintenance of a dynamic and proactive security service, to ensure the highest standards are met at all times. To ensure, in conjunction with the Security Supervisor or Operations Management, that patient, visitor and staff safety is supported at all times.

1. To maintain good order and prevent public disorder on all Trust sites

2. The protection of patients, staff, contractors and visitors against acts of violence, aggression and abuse

3. The protection of property belonging to the Trust, patients, staff, visitors and contractors against loss, theft and damage

4. To assist with violent or aggressive patients at ward level

5. Operate and answer the communication device, i.e. Radio’s or bleep, issued to staff in courteous manner and action the requests.

6. Give directions and advice to patients and visitors across the Trust sites

8. Keep police log numbers, security reports for police, contact police and security as and when required.

9. Be responsible for security of CCTV information.

10. Make sure all departments and staffs are aware of any security alerts.

11. Respond to requests for assistance from wards and departments.

12. To record all work requests accurately using the TrackTik System

13. Using the correct system, dispatch tasks to Security in a fair and timely manner,

ensuring that they have all the relevant and adequate information required to carry out the task

14. To accurately record when all tasks are issued and completed by all Security and Police staff

15. To liaise with the Security Manager/ Supervisor’s and Team leaders to resolve any issues that may arise during their shift and make decisions as appropriate

16. To report any problems or concerns relating to security staff activity

17. To record all complaints received accurately using the appropriate paperwork in accordance with the Departmental Policy

18. Monitor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) for all Trust sites

19. Report identified faults in security systems to Estates Department

20. Provide guidance and facilitate access to the CCTV system for the purpose of Police

investigations in line with the Trust CCTV policy

21. Maintain CCTV logs in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998

22. To ensure that emergency procedures e.g. major incident, are carried out in

accordance with the departmental policy using the approved paperwork as logged in

the Emergency Preparedness file.

23. Undertake any other duties relating to security which may be requested by the Security Manager / Supervisors and Team leaders

24. This job description is not exhaustive and will be reviewed annually

25. Any other duties in line with your grade that may be requested.

**ATTRIBUTES**

**ESSENTIAL**

**KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE**
- Previous Security experience using conflict resolution skills
- Proven ability to Communicate at all levels
- Ability to liaise with patients, visitors and staff
- Experience of working with challenging patients/individuals with challenging behaviour
- Experience of using CCTV equipment
- Computer Literate

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Professional security qualification or applicable security industry experience
- Control & Restraint Trained (NHS recognised standard)
- Conflict Resolution training & Breakaway technique trained
- Educated to GCSE (A to C) or equivalent

**APTITUDE & ABILITIES**
- Ability to work under stressful conditions
- Previous experience in dealing with the public
- Ability to deal with face-to-face conflict in pressurised situations

**DISPOSITION / ATTITUDE / MOTIVATION**
- Enthusiastic, approachable and motivated

**OTHER FACTORS**
- Able to carry out work within a timed schedule
- Able to cope with bereavement / illness

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Zero hours contract
Part-time hours: 12 - 37.5 per week

**Salary**: £12.45-£21.03 per hour
