We are seeking to recruit a Qualitative Research Fellow to NHS Fife for a fixed-term of 12 months to join our Palliative Care Research Team. You will be employed to work on a specific research study funded by Fife Health Charity - exploring the lived experiences of care and support for people with advanced cancer, and their caregivers, in Fife.

This post can be offered on a full-time or job share basis. You will work alongside consultants from the Specialist Palliative Care Service in Fife and qualitative researchers in Lothian and at the University of Edinburgh. The foundation of this qualitative research will be interviews with patients, families and other unpaid carers, providing deep insights into real world experiences of care. The qualitative study will involve longitudinal interviews (serial interviews with the same participants over time). You will be responsible for planning and conducting Fife-based interviews. The patient population will be living with advanced cancer

You will have training, knowledge and experience of qualitative research principles and processes (including confidentiality, informed consent and ethical issues), and an understanding of research within the context of the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice. There will be opportunity to contribute to qualitative analysis of interview data and to take an active role in writing up findings for dissemination and publication.

Experience of working with vulnerable populations and supporting people in distress would be beneficial for this role. Attention to detail and strong communication skills are key requirements, along with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. The ability to travel between all sites within NHS Fife is essential.

Please note that the salary for part time hours worked will be pro rata.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
