Adderley Green is a neurological centre providing specialist care and rehabilitation to those with a wide range of neurological conditions. You will work across the units within Adderley Green, which covers complex care (including prolonged disorder of consciousness and tracheostomy care), slow stream neurorehabilitation, neurobehavioral and neuro palliative. You will have the opportunity to gain experience within complex dementia care.
You will be supported by an experienced Occupational Therapist to be able to assess and provide treatment to our residents. You will be responsible for the assessment and management of residents to promote their independence and support long term management of their condition.
With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you’ll receive support from internal and a regional network of healthcare professionals whilst enjoying a strong focus upon staff development, through the provision of frequent formal and informal supervision, in service training and access to a variety of online & CPD training courses to support you reach your career goals.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and implementing individual and group interventions collaboratively with patient/s.
Complex discharge planning, casting and splinting, assessing occupational performance as well as cognition and behaviour and assessing those in prolonged disorders of consciousness to identify level of awareness and compiling appropriate treatment plans Actively implementing evidence-based practice.
Maintaining accurate patient records, including care notes, written reports and discharge summaries in accordance with Elysium Healthcare and Occupational Therapy professional standards.
Establish effective communication with patients and their carers, all staff and other agencies.
Implement and develop evidence-based therapeutic activities to aid neurological rehabilitation
To fulfil a variety of duties and responsibilities associated with maintaining a caseload, meeting the standards set in the Occupational Therapy department care-pathway while adhering to HCPC regulations.
Complete full assessments, plan, implement intervention and evaluate outcomes as per department pathway, enabling the patient in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Registered Occupational Therapist with Dip COT qualification or degree
Member of British Association of Occupational Therapy
Experience in working in a neurological setting or demonstrate interest in working in this area.
Strong knowledge of best practices within a similar setting
Knowledge and practical experience of the Occupational Therapy process in mental health or neurological settings
Experience, knowledge and skill in supervising OT staff and students
