The Academic Unit for Ageing and Stroke Research (ASR) is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly organised and motivated Research Fellow to undertake newly funded work which aims to build capacity in social care to support the wellbeing of older people. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading research centre, working in collaboration with local authority colleagues, in an exciting role to implement high quality social care research addressing the needs of the ageing population.
The post holder will meaningfully engage with the social care sector to enhance research activity and outputs, so that research methods and evidence generated are relevant and appropriate to a wide diversity of the ageing population. This will include working with local authority colleagues and home care providers to specify aims and objectives, evaluation methods, collate routine data as well as generate new data, to meet these objectives.
The role will involve contributing to data collection and analysis, which may involve conducting surveys, interviews with staff and older people, focus groups and co-production workshops. This project is implemented in Yorkshire and Humber so travel to within the region will be required.

Research Management and Conduct
Identification of research questions / needs in collaboration with academic and local authority colleagues
Organisation and management of research in progress
Involvement in the preparation of documentation for ethics committee approval (if required)
Development of research procedures and documentation

Undertaking quantitative and qualitative data collection using a range of methods

Preparation and dissemination of information to social care forums and lay groups
Supporting the production of guidance for social care services based on research findings
Communication with other researchers and social care colleagues
Other duties
Act as a research resource for local inexperienced researchers, e.g. students and early career researchers and local authority colleagues
Act as a ‘linking pin’ to foster collaborative working relationships across academic and social care sectors, and to identify research opportunities, including training and support which will benefit social care colleagues to develop research skills / knowledge
Assist in the development of research protocols
Ensure that research is undertaken in full compliance with UK GCP guidelines and in accord with local and national research governance, and other legislation relevant to the population
