**Job Title**: **Debt Advice Caseworker**

**Reporting to**: Advice Supervisor

**Role Purpose**:To provide support to our money, debt, and welfare benefits advice service clients and to support our referring partners.

To measurably add value by contributing to the success of the Advice Team to deliver advice contracts on time, on budget and to the required quality standard.

**Main duties and responsibilities**:
**Advice work**:

- To provide assistance with money, debt and benefits advice, information, and support to Pennysmart CIC clients and referring partner agencies.
- To assist with money, debt, and benefits casework on the client’s behalf, where appropriate.
- To assist in acting for the client where necessary, by contacting and negotiating with third parties e.g., creditors and drafting letters and telephoning, by providing court representation, representation at benefits tribunals, including the preparation of submissions for appeals.
- To assist in provision of advocacy support to clients in dealing with outside agencies such as local authorities, bailiffs, and government agencies e.g., DWP.
- To maintain accurate records on the AdvicePro CMS system in accordance with procedures set to comply with the AQS, MAS and any other quality controls employed.
- To commit to monitor and maintain a high standard of service to clients and referral agencies, including the collection of data to provide evidence of service outcomes and impact.
- The post holder will be expected to be a driver with use of their own car, travel expenses will be reimbursed.

**Support of casework and development of systems**:

- To work with and support other members of the Advice Team to ensure that the service is provided within the framework of agreed quality standards and meets the requirements determined by our service level agreements.
- To offer constructive support and guidance to colleagues to help them achieve their personal, team and business objectives. To contribute to the development of the staff team.
- To maintain and contribute to the development of the operational systems.
- To acquire a knowledge and understanding of the following areas of specialist advice and assist other advisers with:
- Money Advice - from basic money advice to casework
- Specific specialist knowledge of Welfare Benefits/Tax Credits and Housing/Rent issues
- Identifying relevant courses/training to attend, in liaison with line manager, i.e., Wiser Adviser, CPAG, IMA etc.
- IT and client management system skills & process training
- Liaison with referrals partners, developing a good working relationship and ensuring the needs of the clients are met and reported on

**General**:

- The post holder will undertake such duties as may be reasonably required and will be expected to work effectively with others in order to make a positive contribution to the work of the organisation.
- The post holder will be expected to keep under review his/her own training needs with the guidance of their line manager and attend training and other developmental activities from time to time as appropriate.
- The post holder will be expected to become familiar with and adhere to all organisation policies and procedures, particularly Confidentiality, Equality and Health & Safety

- Pennysmart CIC currently provides a 9am to 5pm service Monday to Friday, although dependent on future service developments, staff may be asked to work flexible hours by mutual agreement (Pennysmart CIC operates family friendly working patterns where possible).
- Part time staff will be expected to work regularly on the same days and times by negotiation with their line manager. We will do our best to accommodate requests for flexibility in working hours in discussion with other staff members.

**- Hybrid working is an option for those with a homespace that meets our compliance requirements e.g., Health & Safety, privacy, safeguarding etc, once probationary period has been completed.**

**Salary**: £13.00-£14.50 per hour
