**The role**
A primary purpose of the Commercial Finance Lead role is to oversee the preparation of financial models to support new contract tendering, working with and partnering the Business Development team and other Reed in Partnership functions to ensure potentialopportunities are robustly analysed. This involves leading the team in the planning out of the process, planning & communicating estimated resourcing requirements across the team or other areas of Finance. Partnering or overseeing the partnership of the BusinessDevelopment team and other Reed in Partnership functions to ensure potential opportunities are robustly analysed and ensuring competitive submission.
The Commercial Finance Lead role is responsible for the leadership, management and development of a team of Commercial Finance Busines Partners to ensure that all staff perform to their full potential and that the team supports the ongoing operation of thebusiness.
Commercial Finance Lead will oversee, support and drive the provision and continuous improvement of accurate, timely and well-presented financial management information to the Board of Directors and Operations Management for Reed in Partnership. They also leadthe team on providing an analytical service to enable operational and supply chain management to fully understand the financial implications of their actions.
**Key accountabilities**:

- Leadership of Commercial Bidding & Financial ModellingThe Commercial Finance Lead supports the Head of Commercial Finance in the oversight and project leading of new contract tendering Finance submissions, working with the Business Development team andother Reed in Partnership functions to ensure potential opportunities are robustly analysed.
- Confidently leading all communication with other key bid stakeholders - Oversee the provision of financial support, analysis and modelling to Business Development on future business bidding opportunities
- Attending & presenting at Authority/Commissioner dialogue sessions or bid presentations
- Creation of ‘finance bid project plan’ adapting to the scale of the bid to support successful bid submission ensuring key bid process milestones are achieved in a timely manner and within external deadlines
- Support operational and supply chain management decision making with the provision of financial analysis of contract and provider performance to support contractual reviews and profiling - Approval and sign off of Finance bid models and Official submissiondocuments
- Provide financial information to support customer information requests on expenditure or contract performance

**Finance Business Partnering**:

- The Commercial Finance Lead leads on providing an analytical service to enable operational and supply chain management to fully understand the financial implication of their actions.
- Oversees the Team’s delivery of monthly P&L or Finance performance reviews with operations, utilising the suite of financial, KPI and forecasting reports available.
- Help drive financial focus and improved operational efficiency.Co-ordinate the preparation of operational resourcing and finance forecasts and annual budgets, developing relationships with specific cost centre managers to facilitate an effective serviceto Operations.

**Other Key Responsibilities**:

- Line management and development of the Commercial Business Partners and Operations Finance Business Partners, overseeing team performance, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of its output
- To lead as Finance representative on implementation activity for new contracts being implemented
- Driving agile mindsets and development initiatives
- To support the Head of Commercial Finance in continually embracing emerging technology to enhance the operation of the department
- To ensure that the ethos of continuous improvement exists within the Commercial Accounts function by reviewing the quality and relevance of the output of the department and reviewing procedures routinely, working with management to implement to the mostefficient and effective methods for the business

**Skills & experience**
**Essential Criteria**:

- Experienced qualified accountant with a minimum of 4-5 years, preceded by a strong academic record.
- Previous management experience in a Commercial Finance role in a fast moving, high volume, multi site environment
- Ability to lead & coordinate on Finance & Bid projects
- Extensive contract modelling experience preferably in a business services environment
- Demonstrable experience of successfully managing and developing staff (including qualified accounting staff).
- Demonstrable experience of working in a fast paced, changing finance environment and driving through change
- Proven ability to convey financial information to nonfinancial managers in a coherent, confident manner.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Proactive, self-motivated attitude.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills and attention to detail - A team player with good interpersonal, relationship building, networking and communication skills.
