Dispensing Optician

**About the Role**:
As a Dispensing Optician you'll make sure every customer gets a great experience when they come into our store. It means listening to what they want, explaining our offers and products, ensuring a smooth and friendly environment and dispensing single vision, bifocal and varifocal lenses.

You will also dispense and fit spectacles and other optical aids, to both adults and children, working from the prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. You'll advise customers on various types of lenses and spectacle frames, including style, weight and colour. You'll also advise on how customers should wear and care for their spectacles.

Your role will be to provide an excellent ophthalmic dispensing service, ensuring every customer gets the appropriate dispensing advice. As a qualified Dispensing Optician registered with the General Optical Council (COC) and good with people, you'll be a natural when it comes to customer care. You will need to be friendly, approachable, polite and helpful, comfortable working as part of a team and able to answer questions and queries utilising your excellent ophthalmic knowledge.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Serve customers enthusiastically, booking appointments skilfully, demonstrating the highest levels of customer service and care, advising customers on frame and lens choice, with the ability to deal with customer queries and complaints, providing prompt, efficient and competent assistance to resolve customer issues.
- Fit and supply the most appropriate spectacles taking into account each customer's visual, lifestyle and vocational needs, giving advice on lens type, frames and styling Interpret optical prescriptions and advise and dispense low vision aids to those who are partially sighted as well as advising on and dispensing to children where appropriate.
- Take frame and facial measurements to ensure correct fit and positioning and advise customers when adjustments or repairs are required if unable to be fixed within the branch.
- Order lenses and check them on delivery to ensure they meet required specifications.
Ensure the branch optimises all sales opportunities at all times by assisting and actively promoting new promotions to colleagues and customers, having good confident product knowledge.
- Assist the Branch Manager in the effective and successful running of the branch, whilst also supporting branch staff in all dispensing areas, whilst co-operating fully with them to ensure all services are fully promoted, maximising profitability.
- Be commercially aware and make the most of all sales opportunities whilst working towards achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), whilst utilising the time available, communicating effectively with customers and colleagues.
- To contribute to the provision and development of an efficient optometry service, whilst maintaining the reputation of the Company at all times.
- Assist with inductions and training of all new sales advisors to the branch.
- Complete administration tasks including clinical, general filing, maintain accurate patient records.
- Respect confidentiality of information regarding customers, staff and the Company in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and be familiar with, and at all times comply with, the Company's policy relating to Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults.
- Be flexible as to locality as necessitated through emergencies, sickness or holidays To assist or carry out any additional tasks associated with the main function (above) as required by line manager.

**Requirements**:

- Strong customer service skills.
- Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
- Competent computer skills.
- Registered with the COC as a Dispensing Optician.
- Ensure compliance with the General Optical Council (COC) Standards of Practice for Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians and any other professional requirements needed.
- To have obtained the relevant qualifications in order to practice as a Dispensing Optician within the UK.
