**Job description**:

- Want to deliver critical policies for addressing climate change? In 2019, the UK became the first major economy in the world to legislate to have “net zero” carbon emissions by 2050, meaning we will no longer be a net emitter of greenhouse gases which contribute to climate change. We are looking to recruit two individuals to develop and implement policy to help the UK meet this target. If successful, you will join our friendly, collaborative team working at the heart of UK decarbonisation policy.
- To fully decarbonise we need to rapidly integrate high volumes of low carbon power into our energy system. This will require the construction of new infrastructure such as transmission networks, and increased interconnection with neighbouring countries in a coordinated way. Using this infrastructure, we can facilitate a transition to net zero in both the EU and in the UK as efficiently as possible while meeting the needs of both consumers and the environment.**Electricity Interconnection**

As a Policy Advisor in Electricity Interconnection, you will lead on the development and delivery of our ambition for 18 GW of interconnection by 2030 to help deliver net zero and support the UK’s energy security. You will work as part of a small flexible team to develop policy proposals in support of the development and effective use of new interconnection and multi-purpose interconnection projects and will support and monitor existing interconnectors. The role will entail working closely with the UK regulators, Devolved Administrations, other Whitehall departments, and UK industry partners. The role is internationally focussed and includes engagement with foreign government officials in collaboration with our Embassies and UKMis. The topic is highly current and attracts significant interest from Ministers and the Prime Minister.**Network Acceleration**

As a Policy Advisor in Network Acceleration, you will drive key commitments within the British Energy Security Strategy to connect 50 GW of Offshore Wind by 2030, speeding up the development of network infrastructure to get electricity from where it is generated to its end consumers. You will work as part of a small, flexible team to help meet these targets by identifying strategic issues based on project intelligence of onshore and offshore infrastructure developments. This work will involve close engagement with Ofgem, environmental stakeholders, parliamentarians, Devolved Administrations and industry.**Person specification**:
