Fountain Head House School has a fantastic new opportunity for a Kitchen Supervisor. You will need to committed, hardworking and enthusiastic individual to be able to support the school’s kitchen in providing healthy and nutritional food for all of our students who may have complex and additional educational needs.

Fountain Head House School is a new and growing Independent Special day school based in Saltash in Cornwall. The school caters for pupils from 5 to 16 with a range of special educational needs. This position is within our kitchen facilities team and has many different strands to your responsibilities. You will work closely with the schools Business Manager to assist with the ordering and budgeting the food for the schools kitchen.

You will plan weekly menu’s, ordering of food and preparing hot lunches and packed lunches, for individuals/groups. Oversee that all health and safety is monitored and reviewed within the main kitchen and life skills kitchens daily. To order the food within the constraints of the budget. To oversee the deep clean of all kitchen equipment throughout the main kitchen and life skills kitchens at appropriate times throughout the year.

1. To be responsible for producing the schools weekly/termly menu, making sure that they fulfil the nutritional guidelines and meet the needs of our pupils.

2. Oversee that the kitchen team conforms to health and hygiene regulations and professional practice.

3. Oversee training of employees to ensure the safe operation of kitchen equipment and proper handling of heavy items and hazardous materials.

4. To train staff and ensure they offer a professional service and a high level of customer service and care.

5. Ensure that all food items and products are stored, prepared ad served based on the school’s recipe, preparation and standards.

6. Operation of cooking equipment is use following health, hygiene and safety guidelines, professionally and in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

7. Ensure that all school standards of hygiene and safety of all kitchen equipment and utensils.

8. Ensure that all hazards, defects and any relevant factors of building and environment safety that may be detrimental to safe working practices and normal school operations are reported to the Business Manager

9. To make sure the monitoring of equipment in all kitchen spaces is completed when required including; food temperature probing, fridge and hot plate temperatures.

10. Maintain clean working environments and making sure kitchen staff follow the school’s preventative maintenance measures.

11. Order kitchen materials and ingredients based on the menu and school’s demands.

12. Maintaining adequate inventory levels and conducting weekly inventory checks.
