**Temporary Cleansing Operative**

**Pay rate: £11.20 per hour PAYE**

**Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday, 06:00- 14:00**

**This opening assignment is for 3 months**

**City: WEYMOUTH, Dorset**

A Cleansing Operative is required to remove litter and waste materials from various public open spaces in order to improve the cleanliness of the area. To assist with the delivery and implementation of high quality street cleaning services.

Key responsibilities:

- On a day to day basis remove litter, detritus and other waste materials from highways, footpaths, grass areas and public open spaces within the Borough.
- Empty contents of litter bins/dog waste bins. Safely dispose of hazardous substances and materials such as needles and dog dirt.
- Undertake street sweeping duties.
- Use a range of mechanical and hand tools.
- Undertake cutting back of shrubs, trees and vegetation.
- Respond to customers and their needs in a polite and efficient manner.
- The timely completion and submission of all paperwork.
- Be flexible and a willing team player to assist the delivery of activities as required.
- Carry out all duties with due regard to your own health and safety and the safety of the public.

**Experience & Skills**:

- Experience and knowledge of manual lifting and handling.
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- Able to work outside in all weathers.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- An effective communicator.
- Good time management skills.
