**Role: Centre Co-Ordinator**

**Salary: £30,000 - £34,000**

**Location: Pontefract**

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- To proactively manage all activities of the centre including securing effective staffing, co-ordinating activity programmes, managing expenditure and ensuring the building is safe and fit for purpose.
- Prepare and manage a stimulating activity programme, working with the staff team and service users to develop the service ‘offer’ including expanding the range of activities both within the Centre and outside, identifying internal and external providers to vary the provision depending on the needs of the client group.
- Work within established budget parameters, to allocate, monitor and control financial resources.
- To create and maintain administrative systems, ensuring effective recording and monitoring processes are in place.
- To produce high quality records and reports as required.
- Co-ordinate marketing activity, promoting the centre to a range of external and internal parties in order to increase membership numbers and wider centre usage.
- Lead on the management of safeguarding issues for the Centre, making referrals to appropriate agencies, recording and following up on issues as required.
- Build partnerships with stakeholders, referring agencies etc. to extend the reach and impact of the service.
- Manage and motivate staff through a change process, conducting team meetings, appraisals, supervisions, performance management, absence management and other HR issues as necessary.
- Undertake assessments of individual members including assessment of needs and suitability for the centre through home visits, family liaison and co-ordinated centre visits.
- Plan, conduct, assess and evaluate educational, self-help, and socially interactive activity session, keeping in mind both individual needs and the diversity of needs in the group.
- Ensure that relevant Health and Safety legislation is adhered to with regards to the Centre building and all activities taking place within it including undertaking risk assessment processes and maintaining records evidencing compliance.
- Continually review the centre, making recommendations for improvements to include (but not exclusively) those relating to promotion and marketing, staffing capacity and service delivery, physicality of the building, catchment area, transport etc.

**Skills/Qualifications/Experience**
- Experience of working in a management capacity in a day centre, health / social care or community centre setting.
- Experience of staff management including supervision, performance management, appraisal, absence management.
- Strong leadership qualities
- Ability to engage and empathise with the client group, encouraging participation in activity and social interaction
- Appropriate skills to develop and deliver activities to engage and stimulate the client group.
- Experience of financial management and budgetary control
- Knowledge and understanding of the social welfare issues and needs of the client group.
- Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to make difficult decisions and drive through change, assertive but yet approachable
- Educated to NVQ level 5 or equivalent alongside a commitment and evidence of continuous professional development.
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle

**Desirable**:

- Experience of working with individuals with additional needs / vulnerabilities
- An understanding of the issues faces by members of former mining communities
- D1 driving licence
- Experience of undertaking Health and Safety Risk Assessments
