The team
Schroders Business Consultancy is Schroders' internal management consultancy function. The function providers' services to the entire Schroders Group, across e.g. strategy and business model design, target operating models, large-scale complex transformation and change management.

What you'll do

Type of work: Involvement in a range of consultancy assignments and other activities which may include:

- Strategy:

- Using strategy formation approaches to facilitate the definition of business strategies through working with relevant business stakeholders
- Development of vision statements and business models for discrete business areas
- Research initiated to address gaps in knowledge relating to a specific business issue
- Operating Models:

- The creation of Target Operating Models (TOMs) for discrete business domains and functions, using standard Schroders methodology
- Business analysis to support capability design, process analysis and organisational transformation
- Change Management:

- Creation of business cases for initiatives under consideration, with the aim of concluding on the potential value add / cost-benefit analysis of embarking on that initiative. (Encompasses financial analysis, definition of business drivers, assessment of risks etc.)
- Advisory to the Steering Committee for projects / programmes of work with the aim of ensuring successful delivery and maintenance of strategic programme objectives
- Partnering with business and programme teams to clarify priorities, stakeholder management, design governance, and TOM implementation activities.
- Advisory on the Schroders' Change portfolio, and creation of high-level plans / roadmaps to implement change

Responsibilities of the role: As a Principal Consultant in the Business Consultancy team you are expected to:

- Lead the delivery of multiple consulting assignments and/or lead very large / complex assignments
- Lead business development and prioritisation of the pipeline of potential Business Consultancy work
- Become a trusted advisor to GMC / GMC-1 level stakeholders within the organisation
- Act and operate as a 'beacon' role model for the rest of the Business Consultancy team and wider change teams within the organisation through leading by example
- Drive the agenda for the team through coming up with ideas for service proposition design, thought leadership and the injection of innovative ideas and ways of thinking - and driving, mentoring and leading others to build, develop and put these in place
- Challenge conventional wisdom and freely expressing their own opinion - but helping, supporting and mentoring others in the team to do the same
- Evidencing and setting an exemplary example as a 'servant leader' for the rest of the team and wider change community
- Undertake line management for other members of the Business Consultancy team and others within the wider change community if appropriate
- Act as a mentor for other members of the wider change community within the organisation
- Build a presence and reputation for their skillset and impact within the wider industry
- Act as a deputy for the Head of Business Consultancy

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
- Over 12 years of experience in a (management) consultancy role, or as high-performing analyst in an investment management environment
- Investment management experience gained primarily in Buy Side organisations, across a number of areas, such as:

- Different Investment business lines, such as Public Markets (e.g. Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-Asset), Private Markets (e.g. Private Equity, Real Estate, Private Debt) and Wealth Management
- Key functions of an investment manager, e.g. Front, Middle and Back Office, Distribution, Product Development, Technology and Corporate Functions
- Experience leading large and complex consultancy assignments
- Experience leading multiple consultancy assignments concurrently
- Established track record of leading strategy development and large scale change implementation
- Strong experience with driving proposition and thought leadership development
- An understanding and experience of iterative delivery methodologies, such as Agile and Scaled Agile
