**Financial Accountant**

**Contract position
- 15 Months (covering maternity)**

Reporting to our Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the company’s Fixed Asset Register and related postings within the general ledger. You will prepare and present financial information for both internal and external reporting, with particular focuson property and IT. You will play a key role in maintaining the integrity and consistency of the data and processes that underpin financial reporting and contribute to the ongoing development with the finance operation.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Review and process CAPEX business case requests.
- Perform timely and accurate recording of fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions onto the fixed asset register.
- Prepare fixed asset journal entries to general ledger and monthly reconciliation of the general ledger balance to the fixed asset register.
- Report on summary movements in Fixed assets in the period (Additions, disposals, depreciation & movements) in statutory format
- Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
- Review selected P&L accounts for capital items.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial information for internal and external reporting.
- Prepare month end journals including deferred revenue, accruals and prepayment schedules.
- Generate supporting schedules and documentation for Group submissions.
- Complete allocated balance sheet reconciliations on a timely basis including investigation and resolution of any queries.
- Prepare departmental management accounts including commentary for any variances to forecast.
- Undertake regular monthly reviews with departmental managers to identify ongoing trends and any improvements in cost control.
- Prepare departmental quarterly projections and the annual budget.
- Generate ad-hoc invoices and recharges.
- Support members of the wider team in transaction processing, analysing data and producing management reports.
- Assist in the development and continual improvement of best practice in the finance area and support the digitalisation and data innovation.
- Undertake ad-hoc analysis work as required by the Head of Finance.

**Skills & Experience**
- Formal Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) - Essential
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint - Essential
- Knowledge of IBM Planning Analytics - Cognos TM1
- Relevant financial experience within a large organisation.

**Knowledge & Abilities**
- Autoline 8.35/AS400 desired but not essential.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- Attention to detail
- Ability to organise work and be self-motivated
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to work proactively and as part of a team
