Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Urology at UHNM. There are 2wte posts on offer one with a sub-speciality interest and competence in Robotic cystectomy and nephrectomy and other one with competence in stone services, including mini and supine PCNL with ability to make their own tracts, paediatric urology and experienced to provide a LATP service

The Directorate has a reputation for being very busy and committed to providing a comprehensive service. We are a dynamic unit which has undergone development in recent years, within the department we have a well-established sub-specialisation and we are looking for someone who is willing to engage and our strong team ethos. In particular the service has grown its robotic service and we are looking for someone to support the growth of this service.

The department provides comprehensive care for a wide range of benign and malignant condition and you will take responsibility for the inpatient and outpatient care of urology patients including the participation in the Consultant on-call rota (1 in 9 currently, likely to change to 1 in 10 from April 2023)

You will be required to participate in the education and training of medical students, junior doctors, nursing and other professionals allied to medicine. You may be involved in the supervision and teaching of medical students attached to the department. With the development of the Keele Medical School, excellent opportunities exist for greater involvement in teaching in many different areas of the undergraduate curriculum.

You will participate in medical audit, the Trust’s Clinical Governance processes and in CPD.

You will be expected to take an appropriate share in the management and administrative workload of the Department. All Consultants are involved in planning and developing the service.

You will be fully registered within the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Urology, registered on the specialist register or be within 6 months of award of CCT at the time of interview.

**University Hospitals of North Midlands has two sites**: Royal Stoke University Hospital, located in Stoke-on-Trent, and County Hospital, located in Stafford. From these hospitals we provide a full range of general acute hospital services for people living in and around Staffordshire and beyond. The Trust also provides specialised services for three million people in a wider area, including neighbouring counties and North Wales.

In addition to renal and dialysis services our specialised services include cancer diagnosis and treatment, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, neonatal intensive care and paediatric intensive care. We are recognised for our particular expertise in trauma, respiratory conditions, spinal surgery, upper gastro-intestinal surgery, complex orthopaedic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and the management of liver conditions. The Trust has some of the most modern operating theatres in Europe.

These are substantive full time post in Urology and you will work together in conjunction with 9 Urology Consultant Colleagues; the post holder will provide a comprehensive Urological service to UHNM including Robotic Cystectomy and Nephrectomy procedures
