**Your role and responsibilities**

Suffolk Highways is a collaboration between Suffolk County Council and their Highway Maintenance Provider to meet the primary objective of maintaining roads and delivering new highway infrastructure in Suffolk. Personnel from both organisations work together as part of an alliance that aspires to be as effective, efficient, respected as possible and at the forefront of highway maintenance and improvement service delivery.

The Infrastructure Management team comprises of circa 120 staff who are collectively responsible for influencing and embedding highway asset management strategies, the commissioning of annual works programmes and ensuring the safety of the highway network for those living in and visiting Suffolk.

As a Highway Assessment Officer you will:

- maintain Suffolk County Council’s (SCC) statutory duty by completing regular highway safety inspections
- respond to reports made by customers to the service by completing ad-hoc safety inspections and update customers on outcomes
- following all inspections commission reactive repair works to restore the highway to a safe condition
- carryout regular auditing of completed works to ensure high quality is maintained
- use AI technology in surveying the condition of the highway.

**You will need**
- relevant Construction Skills Certification Scheme card
- knowledge of highway maintenance materials and techniques
- knowledge of safety standards for road works with experience of working on live carriageways.
