- The Role:

- Most of our adjusters adopt a mix of home and office-based (Birmingham) working throughout the week which helps support a healthy work/life balance. You will also be required to engage and work with various internal and external specialists, so excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate various parties are essential. When you do spend time in our office, you’ll experience bright and open surroundings which offer excellent areas for collaboration as well as desk space. It’s an ideal environment for working alongside and interacting with fellow colleagues.
- Whilst you will be comfortable working on your own, you’ll be a core part of our extensive team of adjusters, and you will have dedicated office-based technical and managerial support. Systems training will be available as required and we will also provide appropriate support for remote (home) working if necessary.
- You will have:
- Communication skills_: Effective communication is crucial for this role as you will need to interact with policyholders, insurance companies, contractors, and other stakeholders. You should be able to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner and negotiate settlements with all parties involved.-
- Analytical skills_: Strong analytical skills to assess the cause and extent of the loss. You need to gather and analyse relevant information, evaluate policy coverage, and determine the appropriate compensation based on your findings.-
- Problem-solving abilities_: Dealing with property damage claims often involves complex situations and challenges. You should be able to identify and solve problems efficiently, finding creative solutions to ensure fair and accurate claim settlements-
- Attention to detail_: Accuracy is crucial in assessing property damage and determining the appropriate compensation.-
- Time management_: You will be required to handle multiple claims simultaneously, and as you’ll be planning your own week you must effectively manage your time, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines to ensure timely resolution of claims.-
- Empathy and customer service_: Dealing with property damage can be a stressful and emotional experience for policyholders. You should have empathy and provide excellent customer service, demonstrating understanding and support throughout the claims process.-
- Negotiation skills_: You should have strong negotiation skills to reach fair and satisfactory settlements for all parties.-
- Integrity and ethics_: You will be required to handle sensitive information and have a responsibility to act with integrity and ethics. You should maintain confidentiality, avoid conflicts of interest, and adhere to professional standards and codes of conduct.-
- Adaptability_: You should be adaptable and able to quickly adjust their approach to different situations, ensuring effective and efficient claim resolution.-
- Technical knowledge_: An understanding of insurance policies, claims processes, and the technical aspects of property damage assessment. Or, if you don’t have any of the above, an understanding of how a home insurance policy operates and the basic make up of a domestic property.-
