Penarth, United Kingdom Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Full time

This exciting post offers the opportunity to lead the adult acquired AAC service within the Cardiff & Vale University Health Board Adult Speech & Language Therapy service. You will be responsible for:

- Providing expert advice & second opinions on adults with acquired communication difficulties who have been identified as potential AAC users
- Loaning non-powered AAC equipment to people living or spending an inpatient stay in the Cardiff & Vale region.
- Delivering training in AAC best practice to relevant stakeholders
- Ongoing development of this relatively new service to improve the care offered to AAC users

The post holder will be required to work effectively in collaboration with patients, families, Speech & Language Therapy colleagues and other health and social professionals, to promote the development, planning and delivery of intervention and training in the specialist clinical area.

The Adult SLT service at Cardiff & Vale is a small and friendly service with Clinical Lead SLTs providing robust support and supervision, with a strong focus on staff wellbeing and personal development. Participation in service projects and audits is encouraged.

You will have the opportunity to work across multiple clinical settings, working jointly with colleagues in the community, outpatients, inpatients, mental health and inpatient rehab.

AAC provision within Wales focuses on collaboration, working with colleagues across the 7 health boards to deliver an excellent and equitable service. You will also work closely with the National Centre for Electronic and Assistive Technology who provide powered AAC, environmental controls and computer access support. This brings with it opportunities to contribute to service development and initiatives at a local and national level.

Our team is very mindful of the health board's values of kindness, respect, trust, integrity and personal responsibility and would welcome anyone who is able to demonstrate these values.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
