**An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Housing Solutions Service for the new role of Housing Solutions Visiting Officer**

This is a new and interesting role to help support the work of the Housing Solutions service who work with households to prevent homelessness and who manage the council’s social housing register. Working in partnership with other organisations we ensure that households are provided with appropriate advice, support and accommodation.

The team is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and robust individual for this new role which will involve carrying out home visits to households who have approached the council as homeless, or households who have applied for social housing via HomeChoice North Somerset. As a visiting officer your priority will be to help prevent homelessness by providing advice and help on a range of housing options. You will also verify a person’s circumstance to prevent potential fraud and to ensure appropriate allocation of housing taking into account a clients health needs etc

**Key elements of the role include**:

- Carrying out home visits to clients referred by members of the Housing Solutions service.
- Update records on the council’s housing ICT system
- Record accurate case notes following your visit.
- To provide advice on a full range of housing options
- Make referrals and signpost to other support services.

**About You**

You will also need to have proficient IT skills in Microsoft office packages, with an ability to learn additional software as required by the service

Ideally you should have experience of homeless prevention or related work e.g. advice/welfare benefits and a proven track record of providing excellent customer service.

**Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.**
