Bruin is partnering exclusively with British International Investment to hire a Head of Valuations to be based in London.

British International Investment (BII), formerly CDC, is one of the leading development finance institutions globally, investing on behalf of the UK Government. Investing in emerging markets with the aim of solving the biggest global development challenges,the group have built a multibillion-pound portfolio of assets across private equity, infrastructure and private debt in Africa, Asia and recently the Indo-Pacific and Caribbean.

The portfolio has grown significantly in recent years and with the fund continuing to regularly deploy capital, BII established an independent Valuations Division in 2020 to sit under the CFO. The Head of Valuations will take full responsibility for theteam, providing regular updates to all stakeholders on the valuation performance of the portfolio. This is an outstanding opportunity for a hands-on and senior valuations professional in the alternative investment space to continue developing and growing ahigh performing valuations team and function.

**The Head of Valuations will**:

- Report directly to the Group Financial Controller, taking responsibility for the valuation of BII’s investments in Africa, Asia, Indo-Pacific and Caribbean.
- Manage a four to five-person team to conduct quarterly valuations across private equity, infrastructure and private debt.
- Oversee the production of reports to the Valuation Steering Committee that represent a true and fair reflection of BII’s investment portfolio value whilst giving regular presentations and updates to senior stakeholders across the business, including theAudit and Compliance Committee.
- Regularly interact and liaise with the Investment Teams, committees and external auditors.
- Continuously develop and improve the Valuation policy, guidelines, processes and systems, achieving best in class practices whilst in accordance with IPEV and IFRS.
- Continue to grow and develop the Valuations Team as needed whilst providing training and mentoring to junior members of the team.
- **Be leading or a Deputy Manager in an emerging markets alternative investment fund.**:

- **Have extensive experience in conducting valuations of investment portfolios across private equity, infrastructure and / or private debt.**:

- Possess an **excellent analytical skillset**with an in-depth **understanding of valuation functions**, including strong **financial modelling abilities**.
- Demonstrate **strong communication skills**, with the **ability to interact and build relationships** with all levels of management internally and externally.
- Hold a finance, economics, mathematics or equivalent degree.
- CFA or equivalent qualifications are preferred, but not essential.
- Be **highly motivated**to live and work in London and be part of a **leading development finance institution**where you can have a positive impact.
- Have management experience and be excited to continue growing and developing a high performing team.
