**Golf Greenkeeping Apprentice for Hamptworth Golf & Country Club**

An exciting opportunity has become available for an apprentice greenkeeper at Hamptworth Golf and Country Club. Nestled within the New Forest National Park, the Hamptworth Golf Club Offers 18 holes of golf and practice facilities. You will be trained in all aspects of fine turf maintenance and attend Sparsholt College for support with this.

**Working week**

Working hours can vary depending on competitions but as standard. Monday - Friday, 6.30am - 2.30pm Some weekend working will be required, one weekend in three.

Total hours per week: 40 hours a week

**What will the apprentice be doing?**

You will be trained in all aspects of Golf Course Maintenance, to include:

- Maintain good standards of health and safety for self and others
- Preparing the golf course for play which will include removing

early morning dew and debris from the greens, raking bunkers,moving tee markers, cutting new holes on greens
- Preparing and using equipment and machinery to maintain and

renovate all turf surfaces within the golf course, including the useof tractors, ride-on machines, and specialist equipment

including fertilisers and top dressing
- Using a variety of integrated methods to control weeds, fungal

diseases, pests and turf disorders
- Maintain and renovate bunkers and other hazards such as water

features
- Preparing ground to establish turf and plants when maintaining,

renovating and constructing golf course features
- Maintain and renovate bunkers and other hazards such as water
- Have a strong work ethic including pride in work, attention to detail,integrity and time management
- Have a flexible positive attitude to work
- Having a safety mindset for self, colleagues and golfers
- A willingness to learn and contribute to their own continuing

professional development

**What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?**

Once you have completed your End Point Assessment you will have achieved a level 2 Diploma and Apprenticeship Standard in Golf greenkeeping.

The EPA consists of three distinct elements:

- On line knowledge test
- Practical assessments

Professional discussion on the Golf Course
You will also have achieved you Pa1 Handling and Application of Pesticides Training.

**What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?**
- On successful completion of the apprenticeship a full time position may be offered

**Things to consider**

Due to the location of the Golf Course, early starts and there not being any public transport a driving licence and own transport will be required.
