Braintree District Council have an exciting opportunity for a **Senior Landscape Architect **to join the team.

Location: Braintree, Essex/hybrid working

**Salary**: £44,210 - £48,221 per annum

**Job Type**: Full Time - Permanent

**Senior Landscape Architect - **The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Landscape Architect to join our supportive Economic Growth team. Braintree is a large District with a mix of historic town centres, beautiful rural areas and more modern housing suburbs providing a greatopportunity to work on a wide variety of landscape schemes.

You will be responsible for overseeing the planning and delivery of the Councils S106 and capital programme spending on a range of community, public open space, town centre, public realm and cycleway schemes. These will be both improvements to existing areasand the creation of new areas of public and community open space and public realm.

**Senior Landscape Architect - **Key Responsibilities:

- To provide expert advice to the Council on a range of major corporate projects on landscape architecture and practical delivery
- To oversee the preparation of project briefs for landscape and environmental improvements to public open spaces funded by Section 106 agreements in line with the Open Spaces Action Plan and the Council’s Landscape Works Programme
- To oversee the design and implement schemes from beginning to end to include: community and stakeholder consultation; preparation of detailed designs; specifications; working drawings; bills of quantities, risk assessments and other documentation necessaryto implement projects
- To project manage public realm, landscape and environmental improvement projects through selection, appointment and management of external contractors, landscape architects, artists and specialist consultants as required
- Work with the Council’s Procurement department to run tender procedures; initiate and manage contracts
- To play a key role in strategy development on a range of linked areas including cycling, open space and design with other officers and stakeholders
- Provision of advice on design, health and safety, technical, professional and contractual matters, relating to the programme of works
- To manage, mentor and develop the graduate landscape architect
- Liaison with the Marketing Department to raise the profile of the landscape improvements and encourage community involvement

**Senior Landscape Architect - **You:

- Chartered Landscape Architect
- Demonstrable extensive experience of programme/ project management of the delivery of landscape, public realm and environmental improvement projects
- Demonstrable experience of design ability from concepts to working drawings
- Demonstrable track record of successful tender processes and contract management
- Extensive experience of budget management
- Training in relevant Health & Safety, Planning and Environmental Legislation
- Mentoring/management skills
- Formal project management training
- Experience of public open space landscape design schemes
- Experience of working with local community groups
- Knowledge of ecological principles
- Must be able to work as required in the evening and at weekends to organise and attend community/stakeholder consultation events or community volunteer events
- Full driving licence
