**What does a Lab Ops Trainee do?**

As a Lab Ops Trainee, you are a vital member of the laboratory team. They support daily laboratory functions, learning essential techniques in sample handling, equipment operation, and safety protocols. They assist in maintaining lab supplies, organizing inventory, and ensuring proper disposal of materials. Under supervision, trainees observe and learn procedures, aiding in experiments, data collection, and documentation. They assist in calibrating equipment, conducting routine maintenance, and adhering to quality control standards while gaining hands-on experience in a laboratory setting.

**Position Summary**

**Position title**:Lab Ops Trainee

**Reports to**: Lab Ops Team Leader

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Responsibility for ensuring that the R&D laboratory areas and equipment are kept to the required standards of cleanliness and that the areas are clear and tidy.
- To undertake general and clinical waste disposal as defined in SOPs and follow management instruction.
- To assist with the stock check, procurement and receipt of commercial chemicals, consumables, manufacturing vessels and packaging.
- To assist with the receipt of Test and Reference material and ensure timely release for project use.
- Assist the R&D laboratory departments, Project Managers and Study Managers by arranging and packing shipments as required.
- Assist with the preparation of SOPs and COSHH assessments upon request.
- To assist Laboratory Operations Team Leader with continuous improvement programme.
- To promptly report any issues or deviations from SOPs to the Laboratory Operations Team Leader and / or Departmental Head of Department.
- Assist the Facilities Manager with general reporting of faults within the facility for rectification.
- To ensure all activities are undertaken in line with MedPharm Health and Safety policies and COSHH regulations, and to always ensure the safety of others.
- To ensure all GxP regulations and MedPharm SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are adhered to promote audit readiness and support the Laboratory Team Leader with preparation for internal and external audits.
- Responsible for maintaining personal training files and ensuring training competency prior to undertaking any task.
- Assist with purchasing, qualification, maintenance, repair, withdrawal, and retirement of equipment as requested and in line with MedPharm’s SOPs.
- Assist with the day-to-day management of the FEWQ tracker and hold monthly WASP report meetings with your assigned department to ensure all required equipment maintenance has been scheduled, any issues have been escalated to the Technical Support Management Team and QA and submit the signed monthly report to the FEQP folder.
- Any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned.

**Education**
- A level and GCSE qualifications

**Experience/Traits/Skills**
- An interest in Science and the Pharmaceutical industry
- Willingness to learn as suitable training will be provided as and when required to carry out the role
- Must have a meticulous approach to work and be highly organized.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Must be able to multitask, manage time efficiently and be able to prioritize.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
