We are recruiting a MDT Facilitator who shares our vision to be trusted to provide outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You will facilitate the running of the patient journey by ensuring that coordinated administrative processes are in place. This will include managing a list of patients and full administrative support to the Local Cancer Multidisciplinary Team Meetings. Monitoring and tracking of the cancer patients ensuring that their journey is processed in an efficient manner, in line with Cancer Waiting Times. Working closely with other hospitals to ensure appointments and investigations are arranged efficiently.

The Trust is responsible for tracking thousands of cancer patients across the pathways. This requires diligence, patience and good communication skills to expedite diagnostic tests, procedures & treatments, both within the Trust and partner organisations.

Team work is an integral part of the role, the ability of team members to work together toward a common goal, communicate effectively, anticipate and meet each other's demands, and inspire confidence, resulting in a coordinated collective action.

What is a Trainee Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team Facilitator?

All patients diagnosed with cancer receive care from a range of clinical staff, who meet regularly to discuss the best treatment option. MDT Facilitators are an integral part of the MDT and contribute to the patients’ experience by ensuring that MDT meetings run smoothly, actions are followed through and data recorded.

The MDT co-ordinator is an essential part of the smooth running and efficiency of the MDT meetings. This post is designed to act as key support for the MDT, in terms of organising and supporting their team meetings, tracking patients along the pathway and in ensuring timely and accurate collection of data relating to cancer waiting times, producing reports and undertaking audits as required

The post holder will assist in identifying cancer cases and collection of all data required for the current monitoring of cancer waiting times and for the Cancer Outcomes and Services Dataset as determined by the needs of the NHS Cancer Plan.

This is a role with lots of variety and ad hoc demands and the post holder must possess excellent time management and planning skills. The post may develop over time to meet the specific needs and the changing demands on the service.
