Newton Abbot, United Kingdom John's Care Team Full time

Lovely, kind and caring gentleman with Cerebral Palsy who lives independently in own home who is supported by a lovely, small care team. Supporting him to live independently with daily living and personal care (feeding, toileting etc).

CARE EXPERIENCE NOT NECESSARY as full training is provided. Excellent rates of pay (£12.50/hr weekdays, £13.50 weekends). Day and sleep-in shifts available.

You do not need to have your own car, **but a** **Full UK Driving Licence is essential to enable day trips/shopping etc with my van. **You will be covered on my vans insurance while working for me.

** PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A FULL UK DRIVING LICENCE **

**Job description**

**Independent Living Support Worker/Personal Assistant required - Newton Abbot Area.**

Due to my physical disabilities, you will be supporting me to live independently in my own home with day to day tasks including personal care (eating and drinking, toileting and hygiene etc), communication, shopping and homemaking. Unfortunately I am unable to speak, but I have a well established communication system that enables me to communicate well with my staff, friends and family. I keep an active lifestyle with regular day trips and am supported by friends and family. You will be joining a well established, experienced and supportive team in the delivery of high quality care and support to promote my independence and to enable my daily activities and to empower my decisions.

Working one to one with me, you will be enabling me to enjoy a full and active life. I have a few routines that I like to stick to (ie shopping, coffee shops and dog walking) but otherwise, my daily activities can and do change week to week. For some activities I like to have two members of my team with me, so some shifts may overlap and/or additional hours may be available to enable support for some activities (such as swimming, exercise, appointments etc). Therefore, some level of flexibility is required.

**Shifts**:
Standard shifts include day shifts (8am - 4pm) and night shifts (4pm to 8am), weekdays and weekends. Night shifts are considered a sleep in; however, you will need to be alert to my night time needs such as helping me to reposition in bed and possibly help me to use the toilet throughout the night, as needed. But once I am comfortable, you can go back to sleep

I would like you to be fun, reliable, trustworthy and friendly as you help me to keep my independence, dignity and respect.

Previous care experience is not necessary as full training and support will be provided by me and my team. A full driving license is essential to drive my adapted van and to enable my active lifestyle.

Because of my physical disabilities, I use an electric wheelchair. I also need transferring with a hoist, but training is provided. External professional training is provided yearly with update sessions. Although manual handling equipment and training will be provided, please consider any physical limitations you may have before applying, however any concerns can be discussed at interview.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an enhanced DBS - cost to be met by me as your employer.
