**Position Summary**

The LEAP Programme will provide support to economically inactive young people (16 - 24 years old) across the County. Offering a blend of classroom, practical and experiential learning to address employability and life skills and social, emotional and mental health needs.

The progression tutor will support young people with their well being, confidence, digital inclusion and a range of employability skills. This role is key to delivering on the UK Shared Prosperity (UKSPF) ‘people and skills’ priorities, helping individuals to overcome personal barriers and challenges.

Working with young people with a range of SEMH (social emotional and mental health) needs you will empower them to make appropriate choices to reach their potential and enhance their abilities. The role requires a compassionate and collaborative approach to develop relationships with key stakeholders and other service providers.

**Conditions of Employment**

Responsible to: Training manager

Salary range: £22,612 - £24,496 pro rata

22.5 hours per week Mon to Wed

Contract Term: Fixed until March 2025 (funded by UKSPF)

Location: Peterlee (This role will have a peripatetic element due to the needs of project)

This is a new and exciting role supporting young people who are economically inactive through a range of activities and support services. We wish to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated tutor who has experience of utilizing a variety of strategies to support individuals to progress, increasing their confidence and supporting them to identify their transferable skills through the delivery of advice and guidance.

**Key responsibilities and accountabilities**

The following list of duties and responsibilities must be taken as a guide and is not to be regarded as fully comprehensive.
- Support young people in a variety of areas, tailor appropriate interventions based on a range of individual needs.
- Establish innovating and creative learning environments to increase engagement and motivation.
- Develop and deliver a range of classroom, workshop and outdoor activities with specialist support where appropriate.
- Provide formative and summative feedback to learners on programme.
- Support with quality assurance processes to continually improve delivery.
- Create positive relationships with learners to inspire positive change to achieve their ambitions and outcomes.
- Build effective relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
- Provide advice and guidance throughout the learner journey.
- Maintain appropriate, effective records and administration including individual progress reporting and reviews in a timely manner.
- Support learners to engage with partners and services, encouraging behaviour change, creating personal goal plans and motivating them to achieve their goals.
- Contribute to the wider team to ensure an effective service, promote shared values and inspire positive change with key stakeholder groups.
- Develop relationships with local stakeholders and partners to ensure their ongoing support and investment in the project.
- Operate with flexibility around locations to support project.
- Carry out duties in accordance with the Quality Systems and Procedures.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**
- An understanding of the difficulties the current economic climate brings to young people not in education or training.
- Previous experience in a teaching, tutoring, youth support or similar role.
- Knowledge and understanding of local area and services available to support individuals with varied needs.
- Passion and enthusiasm for learner engagement.
- Initiative and ability to plan own workload.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Flexibility and commitment.
- Experience in offering advice and guidance.
- Experience working with young people with SEND (desirable)
- Teaching and/or assessing qualification (desirable)
- SEND qualification (desirable)

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: £22,612.09-£24,496.43 per year

Expected hours: 22.5 per week
