**Job Description**:
Rock A Tots Children's Day Nursery is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Mealtime Assistant to join our team. As a Mealtime Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and positive experience of the children in our care during meal times and other related activities. You will be accountable to the Room Supervisors and Managers of Rock A Tots.

**Responsibilities**:

- Abide by all nursery policies and procedures to maintain a consistent and safe environment for the children.
- Work in all nursery rooms as required, providing assistance and support where needed.
- Assist, support, and encourage children during feeding, toileting, nappy changes, and sleep times, promoting independence and self-help skills.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, safe, and welcoming nursery environment for parents, children, and visitors.
- Foster a happy and positive atmosphere by engaging with children and promoting their well-being.
- Attend staff meetings and training courses as requested to enhance professional development and stay up-to-date with best practices.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children within your care, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Undertake necessary duties assigned by senior staff members to contribute to the smooth operation of the nursery.
- Support early years workers with lunchtime activities, facilitating a positive dining experience for the children.
- Assist the cook with the preparation and clean-up of lunches, ensuring meals are served in a timely manner and following food hygiene guidelines.
- Prepare snacks, tea, and other food items as directed by senior staff members.

**Requirements**:

- Basic Food Hygiene qualification is essential.
- Prior experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting is desirable.
- A genuine passion for working with children and promoting their development and well-being.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and interact positively with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to nursery policies and procedures.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to effectively handle multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure the safety and welfare of children during mealtimes.
- Flexibility to work in different nursery rooms and adapt to changing schedules or needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and provide support to colleagues when required.
