**Hourly Rate**:£11.65 - £12.48 per hour

**Actual Salary**: £20,816.22 - £22,120.58 per year

**Hours**: Full time - Term Time only
- 40hrs per week
- 8.30am-4.30pm

Part of a group of schools that have 23 SEN/SEMH schools across England.

After passing your probation, they will pay for you to train up to be a qualified teacher if that is what you want.

The schools provide day placements for students aged 6 to 16 years primarily with communication and interaction difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia.

Some may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning.

**Main Purpose of the Role**:
To lifeguard swimming lessons and free-swim sessions.

To support the swimming teacher with all elements of the day to day running of the swimming classes.

**Key duties**:

- Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
- Provide meaningful feedback on pupil behaviour, relationships and attitudes.
- Assist the swimming teacher with carrying out their professional duties.
- Know and understand the swimming teacher’s curriculum planning and to plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individual, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary within agreedsystems of supervision.
- Support the day to day running of swimming classes across the school and take the lead in the absence of the swimming teacher.
- To ensure safe provision of all equipment and ensure it is used correctly in accordance with Health and Safety and risk assessments.
- To be jointly responsible for the safety of pool users and take a lead in any rescues or first aid incidents that occur in the pool or poolside.
- To maintain a safe environment in the pool facility, including cleaning, testing and maintenance responsibilities as necessary.
- Ensure that all documentation is completed correctly for records of incidents, health, behaviour, etc as necessary.
- Be a role model for new staff and supervise and guide less experienced staff.

**Essential Qualifications**:

- GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
- RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification

**Knowledge and Experience**:

- Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with disabilities and SEN (Special Educational Needs), including ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and ASD (autistic spectrum disorders).
- Understanding of the safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
- Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
- Experience working within education is advantageous
