Position Type: Full-Time

Job Purpose: As a Credit Controller, you will play a key role in minimising bad debt risks and improving cash flow. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of the construction industry's unique challenges. You will work closely with clients, commercial managers, and the finance team to ensure timely payments, manage debt recovery, and maintain accurate records.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Foster strong relationships with clients, addressing any billing disputes or issues promptly to prevent payment delays.
- Proactively manage the debtor ledger to ensure timely payments, reduce outstanding debts, and improve cash flow.
- Conduct credit checks on new and existing clients, assess creditworthiness, and set credit limits accordingly.
- Implement effective credit control policies and procedures
- Collaborate with commercial colleagues to ensure accurate invoicing and resolve any discrepancies.
- Regularly report on the status of receivables, highlighting potential risks or issues to management.
- Initiate legal proceedings for debt recovery if necessary
- Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments affecting credit control in the construction sector.

**Key Skills & Competencies**:

- Proven experience as a Credit Controller or similar role, preferably within the construction sector.
- Strong understanding of credit risk management and financial principles
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage sensitive situations diplomatically.
- CICM qualified or actively working towards their CICM (Chartered Institute of Credit Management) qualification.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with accounting software.
