An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Healthcare to join the Offender Health Directorate working at HMP Ranby. HMP Ranby is a Category C men's prison and It holds about 1000 male prisoners.

We are looking for someone who will be able to provide effective clinical and operational management of prison health services, including monitoring external Service level Agreements which address the Local Health Needs Assessment and ensure delivery against required standards e.g., Prison Health Performance Indicators, Standards for Better Health.

The role will involve leading a large multi-disciplinary team with Mental Health, Physical Health (primary care, extended scope and emergency response) and Substance Misuse services, Pharmacy team alongside psychiatry, psychology and IDD specialist roles. The role will be pivotal in the relationship management with the prison senior management team.

To effectively manage prison healthcare, including monitoring Service Level Agreements with external providers reflecting best practice and meeting commissioner Key Performance Indicators and patient requirements.

Ensure the delivery of service provision meets the Key Performance
Indicators and to put in place processes and solutions to improve service provision.

To promote and develop effective models of multi-disciplinary care, redesigning care pathways to address and reduce inappropriate referrals to secondary care.

To provide professional clinical management leadership to all staff
employed within the service, including those employed via an external SLA, ensuring role clarity, clear, objective setting and individual performance review.

Applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated, patient focused and enjoy challenge, with proven ability to lead, plan and manage specialist nursing and organisational service provision.

A commitment to quality improvement and continuing professional development is essential and understanding governance in clinical care and performance management. The role will offer the opportunity to be involved in preparing for CQC/ HMIP inspections.

The role will also deliver root cause analysis incident investigation participating / leading in serious incident investigations. The role will also lead on local service user engagement and ensuring that compliments concerns, and complaints are responded to appropriately.

- To work as an individual and as part of a team on the development of Policies, Procedures, SOP’s, and Processes for Offender Health on a range of issues.
- To identify, evaluate and mitigate risks associated with the service, implementing appropriate risk management systems.
- To produce high calibre reports suitable for submission to the PCT Commissioners, Partnership Boards, Prison Senior Management Team and Forensic Senior Managers.
- To be responsible for ensuring the implementation of Human Resource structures within your establishments, including, Sickness Monitoring, Performance Monitoring, Continued Professional Development etc
- To be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Information Governance systems within your establishment
- When necessary undertake research as part of the Offender Health overall research plan.
- To be able to act independently interpreting Trust Policy to inform decision making
- Be able to cover for the Area Manager when necessary
