Newhill Construction is the property service company set up by its owner to deal with his various property interests. These interests extend to 19 long term rental properties (primarily in Edinburgh but also Perth, Port Seton, Arbroath & Dundee), 2 renovation flats in Edinburgh (destined to become long term rental properties) and 4 holiday cottages in Fife. Property interests also include farm land and a farmhouse near Auchtermuchty. Following the previous handyman moving to another position after seven years, Newhill Construction is now looking to recruit a full time (40 hours a week) self employed handyperson to undertake the following responsibilities:
a) To renovate 2 - 3 days/week the existing renovation flats to a high standard of finish such that they can then be let out on a long term basis. It is anticipated further flats will be added to ensure there is continuity of flat renovation work.

b) To assist with the four holiday cottage changeovers which are on Fridays and sometimes on Mondays (if there are Short breaks). This will involve any necessary repairs and maintenance of the cottages before guest arrival, as well as grounds maintenance.

c) Mini renovations of long term rental flats during the period of tenant changes (generally 2 - 3 weeks).

d) Undertake any required repairs or improvements across the 19 rental properties as requested via tenants/agents etc.

e) Assist with the maintenance of the farmhouse, holiday cottages and leisure facilities during planned maintenance weeks (closed to guests).

f) Estate management around the farmhouse and its land.

g) Cover for owner when on holiday or at meetings etc.

h) Undertake additional key projects as required (unspecified).

The primary skills needed are those of joinery closely followed by decorating. Some experience of other trades will be an advantage (such as electrics, plumbing, forestry, gardening, tractor and mini digger driving and roofing). The role generally involves working on its own supported by the owner, plumber and electrician as required. Other specialist trades and equipment can be brought in as required. Some training in certain trades can be provided if you have limited experience in certain areas.

It is anticipated you will have your own tools and equipment albeit some specialist tools will be provided or hired in.
